Why Venom is migrating
Venom DAO voted to move the network to a new protocol (VIP-003). It ran on testnet for a year before launch. What changes:
- Up to 150,000 TPS
- Sub-second finality
- Dynamic sharding
- Proof-of-Stake consensus improvements
- Existing smart contracts, addresses, and ecosystem products keep working
The swap is 1:1 ($VENOM to new $VENOM). Token supply and vesting schedules stay the same. The old mainnet keeps running for 6 months after launch, so you have time to move your tokens.
How to migrate $VENOM and $USDT
The migration portal opens once the new mainnet is live. When it does, here's how it works. You'll need Venom Wallet or SparX (browser extension or mobile app).
- Open the portal. Go to migrate.venom.network. On a phone, open the link inside your wallet's built-in browser and wait for the page to load.
- Connect your wallet. Click "Connect Wallet" and connect for both the source network (Venom) and the new network. You can also paste your existing address in the new network instead of connecting a second wallet, as long as you've saved your seed phrase.
- Pick the network and amount. Set "From" to Venom and "To" to New Venom. Choose VENOM or USDT and enter an amount. Leave about 0.05 VENOM for fees. Send a small test amount first.
- Confirm. Click "Transfer", then check the amount, recipient address, and destination network in the wallet popup before signing.
- Check it arrived. Tokens show up within seconds. Verify your balance in SparX or on the explorer at venomscan.com.
If something looks off: balance not showing means you're on the wrong account or network; a failing transaction usually means you need ~0.05 VENOM for gas; if tokens haven't arrived, wait a few seconds and refresh.
Frequently asked questions
What happens to Venom Wallet?
It's retired after the migration. The new network uses SparX, a multichain wallet that you can install from sparxwallet.com/download.
Will my wallet address stay the same?
Yes. The address format doesn't change. Venom uses TVM-based addresses, and the new mainnet keeps the same scheme, so your existing seed phrase works in SparX.
What about Web3World and ChainConnect?
Both move to the new mainnet. The old network stays up only long enough to finish token migrations, then it's shut down and old-network dApps stop working. Developers need to redeploy their contracts. Close any open positions before you migrate.
Should I unstake stVENOM before migrating?
Yes. Unstake stVENOM back to VENOM, migrate the VENOM through the portal, then restake on the new staking contract once it's live. During the migration the unstaking time is 24 hours. stVENOM can't be migrated directly because it's tied to the staking contracts.
Will I lose XP if I unstake and restake?
Possibly, and we're working on it. Options on the table are an XP snapshot taken at migration, a bonus multiplier after you restake, or a grace period. We'll announce the final decision soon.
What about my NFTs and other tokens (Dragonz, MVT, …)?
They don't migrate automatically. Each project deploys new contracts on the new mainnet and runs its own migration, so follow each project's instructions. The Foundation only handles native $VENOM and $USDT. Dragonz and MVT have confirmed they'll support migration.
Is my old transaction history kept?
Yes, you can view it at old.venomscan.com. The new mainnet starts with a clean state, but the Foundation will use the old history for any future airdrops or allocations.
What about my tokens on exchanges (MEXC, Gate.io, KuCoin)?
We're coordinating with the listed exchanges. Once an exchange finishes its migration, you can deposit and withdraw $VENOM on the new mainnet as usual. If you'd rather control the process yourself, withdraw to your own wallet and migrate through the portal. Don't send old-mainnet tokens to an exchange after it switches to the new network. Check each exchange's announcements for timing.
What happens to WVENOM (ERC-20) on Ethereum?
Unwrap it back to native VENOM before migrating. The portal only accepts native $VENOM. The bridge keeps supporting cross-chain transfers, so wrapped tokens work as before once the new network is live.
What if I miss the 6-month window?
The portal runs 24/7 during the window, so move at your own pace, but don't leave it to the last days. After the window closes the portal stops accepting transfers, and any tokens you didn't migrate stay locked in the bridge contract as the old network shuts down. There's no standard way to recover them. If you missed it, contact support on Discord or Telegram; they review cases individually, with no guarantee.
Is there a minimum amount to migrate?
To be announced.
Can I use a Ledger?
Ledger support for the new mainnet is still being updated on Ledger's side. For now you can migrate by importing your seed phrase into SparX, completing the migration, then securing your tokens again once Ledger support lands. Never share your seed phrase, and only enter it in the official SparX app from the App Store or the official website.
What about bridged tokens on other chains (Ethereum, BSC)?
Nothing to do. Tokens bridged to other networks (such as WVENOM on Ethereum) keep working. The bridge reconnects to the same networks on the new mainnet at the protocol level.
Will gas costs change?
No. Gas on the new mainnet is comparable to the current network. The upgrade improves throughput and finality without changing everyday fees.
